Go Texan Y'all!

So, I guess our lives have been boring or something because nothing seems to be happening around here. Every once in a while I think oh I should blog that, but I never have time do it when I think it and then the day passes. This week is we will be celebrating Go Texan Day at school. It's something that is celebrated in the Houston area and everyone pulls out cowboy hats and boots to celebrate our heritage of being the best. It is always tied to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo which I will be attending this year. I hope to make it an annual event for our little family. One day Zachary will be old enough to stay up late and attend a concert with his daddy and me. This year we will be whopping it up with Rascal Flatts. We tried to see them last year, but of course they canceled because the lead singer had a sore throat. We were stuck with Clay Walker and Joe Nichols and a few other guys. The only thing that made that night fun was counting how many songs Joe Nichols sang about a Coupe de Ville. There were at least 3 that I remember and I'm not exaggerating. He must really like that car. So this Thursday Zach has Rodeo Round-up at school. I signed up to be his class helper. He will play games and do fun things. I'm gonna have him wear a bandanna around his neck to get him dressed for the occasion and I will be pulling out my cowgirl boots. I'm excited for Zach to learn about Texas the way I did when I was a little girl. For some reason I think it's fun. He made a little book about Texas at school today and learned about the bluebonnet which is the state flower for all you "other" people. The one thing he took from that lesson is that YOU DON'T PICK IT!! The last time we were at the library we checked out The Legend of the Bluebonnet by Tommie dePaulo. It came out when I was a little girl and I always really enjoyed it. I thought it would be a good read since he would be learning about Texas this week. Zachary was complaining to that the main character in the book had picked the flower and I didn't remember that from the story, but as we read it before quiet time today he had to point out how the little girl was holding a bluebonnet. At least sometimes he listens and most the time he is a good rule abider. Other than that it about covers it for over here. Yee Haw and get a long little doggies!

Sweet! I'd love to see Rascal Flatts, how fun! I'm sure Zach will be excited about dressing up.

Just some more Texas History. Go Texan day is not just for Houston, but all of Texas. It happens to coincide around the Houston Rodeo, but Go Texan Day happens to celebrate Texas Independence Day, which of course is March 2nd!
love ya.

I hate to rain on your birthday parade "anonymous", but you my friend are wrong on this one. The coincidence is that the HLSR falls near Texas Independence Day, Sam Houston's Birthday, Dr. Suess's Birthday and a Great Aunt we never met's birthday. However Go Texan Day began as an advertisement campaign back in the 50's to jump start the Rodeo. If you would read my hyperlink I so kindly provided in the blog you would've learned that my friend. So, even though Go Texan day is such for Texas it is something celebrated in the Houston area. And for some reason Tyler was confused at who anonymous was...I'm like duh it's says March 2nd in it...could it BE anyone else? love ya too.

I hope this will finally work! I don't mean to make fun of "ya'll" Texans but really..."the best" I mean when you make statements like that you are just asking for a little mocking. I mean roping, bandanas, cowboy boots and the livestock show!!! I little hickish!! But hey if "ya'll" are into it than by all means squeeze into those wranglers, slip into the boots, tie on your bandana and enjoy your music about coupe de villes. However, I shouldn't talk to much I mean I live in Utah!
