Brandon is still trying to learn how to crawl on his hands instead of his elbows, but I think he feels that he gets around just fine that way so after a few attempts up on his hands he just falls flat and says forget it. His top two teeth have finally broke through. He's been quite cranky today, but I think it's because he's getting sick. He is cruising when he pulls himself to stand. He has now climbed past the first step so it's only a matter of weeks before he makes it to the top of the stairs. I bought a gate and I need to go pick it up at Wal-mart (site to store) and then I get to install it. Unfortunately the way the bottom of our stairs are you can't really put a gate up very easily. I figure the more practice he gets the better he'll be at climbing them and coming back down right? I just hope it's climbing down and not rolling! Oh, he still hates solids and he now seems to be getting very irritated with me when I even try to sneak it in his mouth, but he drinks apple juice from a bottle and will accept gerber puffs. I just can't wait to talk to the doctor at his 9 mo. check up. Which Brandon did turn 9 months today!
Now for the good part...Zach!
The other day when Tyler and Zach were in the car just the two of them they have the following conversation:
Z: Dad, mom said she's gonna paint my fingernails like a girl!
T: Huh? I don't think she would do something like that.
Z: Yeah, she said if I don't stop biting my fingernails she's gonna paint them like a girl and I don't want her to paint my fingernails like a girl.
T: Oh, it's okay. Mom won't paint your fingernails so don't worry about it because I bite mine too it's a bad habit. Why do you bite your fingernails?
Z: Because I like it! I've decided that I'm just not going to bite my fingernails in front of her. I'm still gonna bite my fingernails, I'll just go in the other room.
Yes, I hate the fact that Zach bites his nails even though Tyler does it too. That's probably why I hate it so much. Saying that Tyler bites his nails is an understatement. Every time I go to trim Zach's nails I keep noticing that fewer fingernails need to be trimmed. Don't you love how kids think they can get away with stuff...sorry kid your mom knows all the tricks of the trade so I'm not falling for any of it! Luckily, he's only biting 3 right now, but I have threatened him with painting yucky stuff on his nails so that he won't like the taste and will stop biting them. I just really don't want him to get in the habit, but when you've got Dad on your side it sounds like Mom is out of luck.
I love that whenever Tyler offers something like playing a video game with Zach that Zach tells him to hang on we need to ask Mom first! I love that Zach is a good kid, but I also love how Mom rules the roost and her say goes above Dads!
Today while Zach and Tyler were playing apparently Tyler kept doing something wrong because Zach says to him, "How many times have I told you that's not funny! If you keep flying your rocket at mission control I'm going to take it away from you." I think it is hilarious when Zach tries to threaten things like that as though he is disciplining us. You can see how he is disciplined at our house. You do something wrong you lose a privilege! Generally the privilege is the toy you are playing with at the moment. Well, that's all for now. I really want to post pictures soon...I'm so bad at that.

sounds like zach has quite the personality! A little boy I used to nanny bit his nails, Rory picked the habit up from him. Now Spencer bites his nails, too. Toenails also go in the mouth! YUCK. Sometimes we put socks on their hands to keep them out of their mouths. But its probably a habit they will keep until they can find more busy work to keep their hands doing something else.
Zach is pretty clever thinking he's just not going to bite them in front of you. Good thing Tyler told you about his plan :)
Very funny! Like it's any surprise who rules your house...at least it's not to me, but, than again anyone who has ever met Tyler should not be surprised by that. It's hard to remember that Zach is only 5, he's just to quick.
Zach is a sneaky little one! What a great plan, to not bite them in front of you (joking.) I've heard of the stuff you can put on kids' nails, like tabasco-flavored or bitter-apple flavored nail polish, I've just never seen it sold anywhere.
