A Brandon Blog

For a while now I've been wanting to post about some of the things I love about Brandon. He's really such a sweet little guy unless he's tired or hungry which sadly with babies happens more often than you think. One of my favorite things is his smile. I love how his whole face lights up when he sees you. I love how excited he gets when Tyler comes home. Brandon will start reaching for him or crawling to him. Even though I was a single mother all of January he still knows and loves his daddy. (Oh and I was a single mother because Tyler had to work like 24/7 with the year end close just in case some of you were a little confused.) Brandon's still not up on his hands yet, but tonight he crawled up the first stair step. I love that when I'm trying to get something done and Brandon wants me to hold him he'll crawl to me and hug on my leg whining the whole time in his "Mom hold me" whine. I love that when I do pick him up he gives me a hug around my neck. Now, I don't know if he knows what he's doing, but he definitely wraps his little arms around my neck and holds tight. I also love that when he wants to be picked up and he sees that I'm coming to pick him up he'll airplane his arms and legs and start flailing them. He likes to show his excitement that Mom's coming to pick him up. He still doesn't want me to feed him solids, but I keep sneaking it in his mouth when he's trying to put a toy or something in his mouth instead. Luckily he swallows it the majority of the time and he lets me know when he's done of course, but I can get about half a jar in each sitting. And his diapers let me know that he definitely swallowed it!

Now back to Zach...(come on Brandon doesn't do anything funny yet and I love to tell Zach's funny stories.) I guess you could say the sibling rivalry is beginning in our house. There is this door stop that Brandon always crawls too and I don't want him sucking on it especially since he could pull the cap off and choke on it, but I'm always trying to redirect him if I catch him before he gets to it. The other day as I'm trying to tell Brandon "we don't chew on the doorstop" (I know he doesn't understand, but he will soon right?!?) Zach says to me, "if I were a baby and you told me not to chew on that I would look at it and then crawl the other direction." Thanks Zach, luckily he is a pretty obedient child. If I told him not to, he generally doesn't. The problem I do have with the child is accomplishing tasks in a timely manner. Which leads to my next story. Last night I seriously asked Zach to come up stairs and get his pajamas on multiple, multiple times. Finally, I step out of his bedroom and he's on the third stair step sitting there and I say again, "Zach please come upstairs to put your pajamas on." I followed it with, "Zach, how many times have I asked you to come put your pajamas on?" He replies with, "Only once." I of course laugh and say, "No, I've asked you at least 4 or 5 times." He responds, "Only 4 then." The kid's lucky that he makes me laugh so much. It helps to keep him out of trouble sometimes. I correct him and say, "I'm pretty sure it was more like 5 if not 6."

when I tell Rory, my 5 year old, to do something multiple times, I bet she only hears it once then blocks it out.
And I heard a good, obvious trick about the door stop caps, super glue it on.

I'm glad you wrote about the little details of what B does. It's hard to remember as they get older. But, you have an impeccable memory as evidenced by the slow eating thing the other day :)

Zach sounds like he would be a good lawyer someday...he is an expert with words and logic! And I love hearing Brandon stories. Give him a little squeeze for me!

Ohhhh, it makes me want a baby. He sounds sooooo sweet!! And Zach it must be the age cause Lena and well Shleby for that matter do the same thing, and I say the same thing and then it tunrs into yelling at them to come upstairs and get dressed and than I have to ask "do you think I like yelling?" the very samething my mom used to say to me, oh, kids, you gotta love them... or else there woldn't be any adults.
