As all children do, Zachary has made quite a few one liner comments that make you do nothing, but laugh. In order for the full effect I will be sure to give you the context in which the statement was made.
The other day I went to check out the Bath and Body Works Semi-Annual sale. Don't worry there wasn't anything great if you haven't had time to go look yourself. On the way in I told Zachary that he could get a bar of soap. Somehow I knew something so simple would make him so happy and as expected he picked the green bar. As we were standing in the checkout line he notices some little bottles of lotion on a table next to us. He peers into the vases that were holding them and proclaims to me, "Mom, I need some lotion for my legs."
As a child I moved very slowly and was often called Papa because of it. This was because Papa Mittelstaedt tended to drag his feet and I did the same. Well, now I'm getting paid back full force. Zachary moves so slow sometimes that it becomes downright frustrating. There is no other way to describe it! I too will now call him Papa, although he of course will be thinking of my dad, but he can move rather slowly at times too. While trying to get Zachary into the bed one night I tell him to move fast. He says back to me, "Boys aren't fast!" He ironically had Dash pajamas on so I told him, Dash is a boy and he's the fastest person in the world! He didn't seem to care much about Dash being fast at that moment.
Later that same night Zachary was making a fuss about who knows what. Tyler goes into his bedroom to see what was wrong. Zachary tells Tyler, "Mom didn't start my music." (Total lie because I had switched the CD's earlier and he got mad at me and made me switch them back when I pressed play the first time.) Tyler then goes to the CD player to start his bedtime music for him that of course Zachary had stopped I'm sure on purpose. Zachary protests, "Daddy's don't press play! Only Mommy's press play!" Tyler reassuringly tells him, "Daddy's can press play too." Luckily Zach was okay with Daddy pressing play even though I was sitting on the stairs listening to the whole thing laughing the entire time.
On New Years Day we got to enjoy having Tyler home. January is supposed to be a really busy month at work so that was probably the last we will have gotten to see of him for a while. When it was time for Zachary to go have quiet time Tyler asked Zach if he could have a hug. Zach laughed and said, "Hugs are for bedtime!" That just goes to show how often Tyler is home at any time and yes, they always hug every night before bed, but we are always still in bed when Tyler leaves every morning.
Last weekend, one of Tyler's aunts was in town for the day. We were over at my in-laws house to play with some of Zach's cousins. As he sees Tyler's aunt sitting on the couch Zach asks me, "Who is that?" I explain to him that she is Daddy's aunt and my mother-in-law tells him that she is her sister. Zachary quickly chimes in, "Aunt Lisa is Grandma Junie's sister!" She had come down recently to spend some time with her great-nephews and Zachary definitely enjoyed having her when she was here.
Yesterday we finally ventured out of the house to do some grocery shopping. I honestly am not sure when the last time was that I actually did grocery shopping because of the holidays. I had taken a bath the night before and I decided that I really wasn't in the mood to shower and wash my hair and blow dry it and all that time consuming strenuous stuff. So I pulled my hair back and put a hat on. When I walk out of the bathroom Zachary sees me and points to my head and says, "Why is your hair that way?" I tell him I just pulled it back because I wanted to wear a hat today. He then tells me, "I like it better by your face." I used to get told by my mother all the time that my hair looks better down than in a pony tail and I agree quite frankly which is why I generally wear it down. But now I'm getting the third degree from my 3 year old son! This is the third time he has made a "what did you do to your hair?" comment when I've put it in a pony tail. But he primarily sees it down instead of up because I like it better than way too.
While at the grocery store we passed by some candy a couple of times. He kept begging and pleading with me to get some, but I kept on being firm and saying sorry, not today. We happened to have to go down the major candy aisle and of course Zach is going crazy for the stuff. He finally says to me, "I want candy. I'm being really nice." Sorry folks, the answer was still no! Even though he was being really nice. The trip was long as I stated before it had been a while since we had gone. I kept complimenting him on being so well behaved in hopes that the behaviour would continue which thank goodness it did. So, that's where he got it in his mind that he was being so nice. Which he was, but we have enough candy in our house to last for a while.
I hope you enjoyed all of Zach's one liners he has said over the past week. I'll try to post pictures soon. I know it has been a while since I have done that. But it's just one more thing that takes time you know?!?

I don't know where he's getting these one liners. He is such a hoot and I thoroughly enjoy his one liners. Guess he's got his mother's wit. I'm also glad he agrees with grandma's choice of hair down, although you really don't look that bad with it in a pony. He's definitely honest with his opinions. I believe he may be a little con artist with his I want some candy. I'm being good comments....or the like.
Love,
GJ
My favorites are "I need some lotion for my legs" and "Why is your hair like that?". Thanks for a good laugh, he is HILARIOUS! Oh, I actually got some really good things at B&B Works- the body creams for $3 each! And I want to see pics of your belly. I never did get to see you pregnant w/ Zach.
