NASA

This past Monday we got to go to the Johnson Space Center with Tyler's family. Zach of course had the time of his life and had been counting down the days for quite some time now. He couldn't wait until it was "Spring Break" and he was going to get to go to NASA. He's lucky to live so close since he's such a fan of all things Rocket! This first picture is of him with 3 of his cousins.

We are in the warehouse that holds a replica of the Saturn V rocket. That was the rocket used to propel the Apollo capsule into outer space. The famous one that landed on the moon and such. It's amazing how huge it is. The next picture is of us standing where the rocket engines of the stage 1 rocket are located. This was just this past Monday, I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant. Tomorrow I will have 10 weeks left!! I don't think it's a very good picture of me, but I was kind and posted it anyways!!

Zachary of course was very excited to get his picture taken with the Space Shuttle better known as the Orbiter.

The best part of the whole trip for him was getting a new little space shuttle like the one he bought last year. Yes he got the same exact set, but his shuttle last year had broken and he desperately wanted to get a new one that was fully intact. His year is complete now! If you ever have any question about anything related to space just ask Zachary. You have a 95 % chance that he'll know the answer. Including the fact that he was able to tell me last night that Sputnik was Russia's satellite. I was shocked he remembered that! And he can tell you about the new rocket program that will begin in 2014. For those who didn't know the shuttle program will end in 2010 and the Space Shuttle will no longer fly. It's so weird since in our lifetime (those born in 1981) it is the only thing we have ever seen go into space. The first shuttle launched 3 days before Tyler was born. So, I still think it's a little crazy that it's ending, but it has served its purpose carrying things to and from space and building the International Space Station. They plan to begin landing on the moon again and the Shuttle never would be able to do that since it would not be able to rocket off from the moon. It's really interesting and I'm excited to see the new rocket launch and all the new stuff that goes with it. If you are interested you can read about the Orion Crew Vehicle and Ares Launch Vehicles. I never thought I would know this much about every previous and future rocket in my lifetime. But I also never thought that I'd have an organized house and that I'd make my bed everyday!
