Happy New Year!!

So, another year has begun and even though we bought a new calendar it feels like everything is pretty much the same around here. We do have some exciting news though. Zach is officially off the pacifier. After he ate off the tips of two of them I decided that enough was enough and it was time to get rid of them! I prepared him 2 days in advance. I told him in 2 nights it will be his last night to have his pacifier and that the next morning we would package them up and mail them to the babies. We talked about the fact that he was a big boy now and I let him know that there are babies out there that need pacifiers and that we should mail the pacifiers to them. Well, 4 mornings ago when we woke up I rounded up the two pacifiers he had left, we put them in an envelope, and I addressed them to the babies. Of course it was my sister-in-law's address that followed, but I knew she would understand best of all people. Off to the post office we went and Zachary said bye bye to his pacifiers for good. The first night was awesome! He went to bed like it was no different from most nights (of course he is 2 so not all nights are perfect.) But I thought, wow, is this going to go better than I expected?!? We were off to a good start. The next night didn't go as well, but the last 3 nights went well enough for me! So, I'm pleased to announce we have made one step closer to being an official BIG BOY!! All we have left is potty training. Let's not hold our breath anytime sooner. But we're out of our crib and off the pacifier! I think at 2 and a half we are doing pretty good. Anyways, I thought I would share the closing quote of 2006. Sunday morning, the last day of the year, we are trying to head out the door to church and Zachary tells us, "I really don't wanna go to church today, Mom." Of course he didn't have a choice, but my favorite part was the addition of the word really. I guess he had been having too much fun celebrating Christmas. All went well by the way and I hope everyone had as much fun as we did. Zachary got lots and lots of Thomas trains and track pieces. He also got a Grow to Pro basketball goal. He does well at the 3 feet and Tyler and his brothers enjoyed playing horse having it set at 6 feet. Santa was good to him this year! Tyler had to wake him up that morning. I know most kids wake up on their own Christmas morning, but we had to get over to Tyler's brothers house. As soon as Tyler mentioned the word Santa, Zach popped right up and I see him come running out of his room. He was ready to open some presents! And since I'm really closing now I'll give you a new story of 2007. Zachary was playing with sidewalk chalk with his cousin and he was trying to imitate his cousins writing of letters. Zachary would hash mark on the ground going through the alphabet and I've learned his new interpretation of it, "H, I, K, Elmo." I've never showed or taught him the letter Elmo, but in his little mind it exists! I guess I should be using better diction when I sing the alphabet song!
