Besides every song that his mother sings from the Sound of Music, there are few things that Zach has come to love at Christmas.
He loves the fact that Christmas can be filled with so many trains. He can't wait to make our annual Gingerbread Christmas Train. I don't know if it's all the candy he gets to eat in the process or the fact that he gets to build a train. He loves music of all sorts, but there are a few Christmas songs that he has come to love. I bought the Josh Groban CD because he just has a fabulous voice. I'd say Zach's all time favorite Christmas song is now the rumba bumba song aka The Little Drummer Boy. I asked Zach what his favorite part about the song was thinking he would say the drum or the instruments in the background, but his response was, "the kid." I had no clue what he was talking about, but upon listening to the song again there is a little boy that sings background vocals and well, that is Zach's favorite part. He also likes the La Dee Da wish you a Merry Christmas Song. Any guesses on that one? It would be Feliz Navidad. Another song he enjoys is We Three Kings because of the Star of Wonder chorus. He of course loves Candy Canes and loves the idea that Santa will be bringing him lots of presents. And yes, it will be Santa bringing them! But most of all his new favorite thing is the Polar Express movie. He thinks it's the best thing that he has ever seen. Why wouldn't he though? It's all about a train and some kids experiences on the train. Plus there is music and some dancing scenes. He LOVES this movie. I'm glad I gave it to him before Christmas instead of under the Christmas tree, but I have a feeling this movie will be watched year round.
For a while Zach kept thinking Santa would be coming the next morning and he'd be getting presents, but I kept having to remind him that it wasn't even December yet! Luckily December has come and we can begin to countdown with all of our helpful countdown helpers. (For lack of anything else to call them.) He has a chocolate advent calendar that he gets to eat a piece of chocolate from for the next 24 days. (well, 22 now.) We have a snowman that holds a number above his head that will help us countdown the days. And we have a special Christmas book with a Christmas story and a carol for the 24 days to countdown as well. So, hopefully this will keep us in the Christmas spirit all season long. We started listening to Christmas music a week before Thanksgiving. I love everything Christmas and I'm glad that Zach enjoys it all so much with me!
