A Zach Sto
So, I knew it had been a while since I've posted, but the week just goes by so quickly. I guess it is still Wednesday, but by the time most of you get this it'll already be Thursday. I always have stuff I think about blogging about, but sometimes I just don't have the time to sit and write it out as much as I enjoy doing it. This story is a must however. There is a certain language condition Zachary has that seems to be getting progressively worse. I'm not really quite sure where it has stemmed from although I have come to make one guess because I always feel the need to have an explanation for everything. What is this language condition you are wondering? Well if you haven't noticed the title of this blog may be a little confusing to you although I'd hope Zachary would understand it since I'm speaking as he normally does. He cuts a lot of words in half. He calls butterflies butters. He calls a helicopter a heli. Tonight he was calling his train Salty Salt and it took me more than a second to figure out what he was even talking about. I told him he needed to take some Tylenol tonight and he told me I don't like tyl. I know there have been other words he has shortened, but I can't think of them at the moment. I don't know if he is being lazy, but my guess is that he knows his name is Zachary, but a lot of people call him Zach. So, maybe he thinks you can just shorten words when you want to? I'm not really quite sure why he does this. I always try to encourage him to say the full word instead of cutting the ending off because I think it is important to encourage correct language. I always very particular when he was younger about learning how to say things correctly. The only thing that isn't called by its correct name is Parmesan cheese. In our house it is known as sugar. And I don't mind continuing to call it that. It'll just be a really confusing situation one day for him. I think he called it sugar because it looked like the powdered sugar we'd sprinkle on french toast and he saw that first.

Perhaps Zach is just experimenting with language. It's OK with me as long as he doesn't shorten my name to Grandma Jew. Just thinking it might not sound so good to the public ear.
love ya,
Grandma JuNIE
That was actually really funny! Thanks for making me laugh this morning!
