The other day Zach and I stopped off at one of those big 99 cents only stores because I had never been in one. After being in their for about 2 minutes I realized there wasn't really anything to waste 99 cents on. We made our way to the baby/kids little section, of course I still had to see what they had, but Zach found something you thought he just couldn't live without. It's a bowl with a cup, spoon and fork inside it as a set. I tell him in the beginning that we weren't going to get it, but he could carry it around until we leave only because he refused to put it down. Then of all I things I find some Texas Tech sippy cups. I knew I just had to buy the Texas Tech sippy cups! You can't really beat sippy cups for 99 cents. We keep looking and Zach also finds some little bath tub whales that he also feels the need to hold on to. I decided that if I was going to go ahead and get the sippy cups there wasn't any harm in letting him pick one of the two things he was holding. I told him Zach you can either get the bowls or the whales, but you can't have both. Which one do you want?...."Both!" Zach, you can't have both you can have one or the other. Pick one. For some reason he picks his original can't live without item his bowl and cup set. You would think a kid would pick 4 little whales over a culinary set, but that's what he picked.

The whole way home Zach kept wanting me to open his new little prize. He got some of the cardboard off, but he wasn't too happy with me taking that first picture. If you look close enough you can see his furrowed brow since he wants that package open!

Obviously, Zachary's IQ far excels that of his maternal grandmother. Your question to him about which item he wanted elited quite a brilliant response. It reminds me of when I was 8 years old and took and IQ test at school. The question asked which I would prefer out of a $1.00 bill vs 100 pennies. I pondered so long on that question prior to resorting to the answers at the bottom. I won't bore you with the near twenty reasons why I would have one vs the other. When I finally approached the answers I was so relieved (no I didn't have an accident) because one of the answers given was either.
It was very smart of him to tell me that he wanted both. You would think that he doesn't understand what the word both means, but from prior expierences he actually has used the word correctly. i.e. I want both hammers. I just can't wait til a few years from now when he understands the concept of money. "Mom, they are only 99 cents why can't I just get both?!?!"
Way cute, story. Zac is so advanced! Zoe is always wanting stuff opened in the store, some times we have real problems getting checked out.
