A day in the life...

So as you have noticed and commented, I have changed the background. It was a little difficult at first, but it really wasn't that hard I'm just not that quick sometimes. Tyler of course was my first to view it and he was a little offended that he wasn't included, but my thoughts were that he normally doesn't like me to post pictures of him. (Even though I do it all the time.) But I figured that he wouldn't want to be the first thing people see every time they come to the blog. Plus it's kinda Zachary and my thing. You normally read about him and occasionally me. So, last night for 5 minutes there was a family picture as the main picture, but as I figured Ty preferred the one of just Zach and me. Today was a fun day. Not really, but it wasn't bad so we'll call it fun. I got to go to the dentist after who knows how long. The last time was probably when we lived in Rexburg and I had to have a root canal. I had chipped my tooth in 7th grade and finally the nerve became damaged enough where it needed to be fixed. They shaved down my tooth in preparation and placed a temporary cap while waiting for the veneer. Luck be it that I pulled the cap off and had to go a whole night with a hillbilly smile. I'm glad I have no pictures because I did look pretty monstrous. The exam went well. I have no visual cavities according to the dentist, but he was unable to take x-rays for obvious reasons. I told him I'm pretty sure that I don't have cavities in between my teeth. Anne, I wish you could have my hygienist. She was much better than Patty. I'll go back to this dental office just for the hygienist!
After that I picked Zach up from school. On Tuesday the first thing he told me upon picking him up was "Mom, I didn't behave at school today." I tried to inquire as to what he did, but I didn't get very much out of him other than he was misbehaving and he drew a rocket when he was supposed to be drawing something else. Today I told his teacher about his "didn't behave" comment and she was impressed that he was able to pick up on the fact that he was being disobedient. I guess both today and on Tuesday he has been off in la-la land struggling to follow directions. He wasn't misbehaving he just wasn't staying on task. I should've told her that he is an offspring of Team ADD. She did say that this was the first week that he has ever been like this, but I'll just have to remind him next Tuesday morning how important it is to follow directions. He just loves to draw those rockets.
After school we headed to JoAnn's to buy some fabric. I'm recovering (well my Dad and I) a rocking chair that was my Grandma's to match the nursery. I'm really excited about! I love the chair and my parents bought it for my Grandma when she took care of me so I really want to keep it, but the tapestry look just isn't my style so I'm gonna make something old, new again! I'll show before and after pictures once the project gets underway! Also, their snuggle flannel is on sale so I figured I would make this baby some blankets like I made for Zachary. Even though it's the last thing we need around here I'm trying to be fair and do something special for both. The best part of JoAnn's was Zach's urgent need to purchase this scrap piece of fabric he found at the bottom of the shopping cart. It was so small all you could do with it is maybe make a flag for Barbie. I did tell him we could get it though. I knew the store would just let him have it if it actually was going to cost me something I probably would've thought otherwise. Upon checking out he stood in the cart and proclaimed, "Don't forget to ring this up!" I told the lady that we would like to buy this piece of fabric and she was nice and played along. Of course only pretending to ring it up, but it made Zach's day. When we got in the car none other than Walk the Line was playing on the radio. Of course as it ends Zach begs me to play it again since it was the legendary JOHNNY CASH! I told him that we would look for the CD while we were at Wal-mart. He of course insists that the CD have Walk the Line and Ring of Fire on it. Luckily we found a greatest hits CD for $7. The best part of that trip had to be when we were again at the register and he places his hand on the conveyor belt and asks, "Mom, can we buy my hand?" I had to remind him that we already owned his hand and that we wouldn't need to buy it, but if I could I would definitely want to buy his hand. Like mother like son, I guess we feel like we have to buy something wherever we go!

I've been wanting to have a custom background for the longest time but am having probs figuring out digital scrapbooking and design/photo editing programs. Pls share your talents with me :)What a cute post! I love Zach, I'm so sad that we won't be able to see him now :( I'm impressed w/ his keen awareness about misbehaving and making sure to pay for merchandise.

What a conscientious little fellow you have, wanting to pay for the fabric! :) What does your nursery look like? I love rocking chairs. My parents got one for us and it is a glider..I love it. But I also like vintage rocking chairs - they bring back so many memories.

By George, I wrote a long comment on the NKOTB, but I don't see it. I guess I'll have to continue identifying myself as anonymous. Anyway, of course I love Zachary's cutest sayings, but I somehow still howl at your commentaries....like when you were in college and we would IM. The Barbie flag is the greatest. Tell Zach, if he had an extra hand, Grandma Junie would want to buy that one for herself.

I love the stories, they are so swwet about him wanting to buy his hand and the piece of fabric... it is just too sweet. Thanks for the call, I really appreciate it!!!! It has been so crazy the youth left this morning and Erique and his wife came this afternoon. Plus we are still trying to find a place to live, we have 23 days to find a place and get out of here. I'll call you when everyone leaves on friday.
