All right, Dee and Anne have asked that I participate in the name post that they have done. I haven't found any need to because I don't have any fascinating story behind Zach's name. It goes like this...after looking at a bunch of baby names I decided that I liked the name Zachary a lot. Tyler wasn't to keen on it, but felt he couldn't come up with anything better. Upon being born at the hospital we knew that it was ten times easier to have a name to be put on the birth certificate as opposed to it reading Baby Boy and having it changed later so, when they asked us what his name was we said Zachary. I was happy because I got my way and Tyler was whatever about it because he still wasn't able to come up with anything better. Zach's middle name is Tyler for obvious reasons. We felt bad that we gave him some initials that may lead to a little teasing later in life...ZTS, but it's somewhat of a tradition for the oldest son to have the father's name as a middle name. And I like that Zachary can share something with his father. The only thing Tyler liked about the name Zachary is that the lead singer of Rage's name is Zack (technically Zacarias, but close enough). We almost spelled Zach with a K, but decided that it would be too confusing for him as a young child and as you know I call him Zachary most of the time. We went with the spelling we did of his name because it is the most common way to spell it and it was a big deal to us to make his life as easy as possible when it came to spelling it for other people. Especially since you have to specify the spelling of our last name. (But not many children have the agony of learning how to spell my maiden name thank goodness.) Plus another dorky reason is that as a kid it's really cool to be at the store and see the pencils with the names on them and to look for your name and be able to find it. With the common spelling he'll always be able to find his name on a pencil. Totally odd I know, but we felt that it was an exciting part of childhood that we wanted him to enjoy. It's amazing all the things that can go through your mind when it comes to naming your child. I find this often while trying to name our second one. We've had his middle name picked out from the beginning. We are using my father-in-laws first name since Ty's middle name is not on the table and this kid will have something like Zachary does. We figure that the same thing will happen at the hospital as it did with Zach in that we couldn't come up with anything better. The name we have on our mind has it's worries like Zach's did, but no name is ever perfect. And the great thing about names is that once the kid is 6 months old it is never thought of again...it's just who the child is!
There you have it, how we went through the process of naming our first born.

I'm a little slow. Do the initials ZTS stand for zits? Or am I completely off? I love that Tyler is still a fan of Rage! At least he doesn't hit things with a baseball bat while listening right?! That's funny that you'd want Zach to find his name on pencils and what not b/c I want to pick names that don't show up on those! What's Tyler's dad's name? Paul? Can't wait to see what name you guys pick!
Yes when you sound out his initials it does say zits. And Tyler's dad's name is Paul.
ZTS for zits! Funny! But really, I like the name Zachary Tyler - it is such a masculine, BOY name! Of course you ahve the "Z" too, that is an added bonus. (fave letter!) Can't wait to see what you pick out for #2.
